Leathers tanned in Italy
The best of Europe

All our leathers are carefully sourced in Italy. We use full-grained nappa (smooth leather), suede calfskin (also called suede ), and nubuck, all tanned in Tuscany or in the Marche region, on the Adriatic coast.

We source from tanneries certified Gold by the LWG (Leather Working Group).
This certification is granted to tanneries that minimize their environmental impact, at each stage of the production chain.

Sturdy soles
glued and then sewn.

Our rubber soles are produced in Italy and Portugal from high density rubber which ensures longevity.

Our EVA soles, used on certain products, are produced near Porto. We use this material when we want a lighter product, without compromising on durability.

Handmade

Two hours of manual labor

A pair of Belledonne, depending on the model, requires between 1h30 and 2h of manual work.

This duration is incompressible, and independent of the number of pairs to be produced. It represents the time required to assemble the forty elements that make up a single sneaker.

These two hours of manual work per pair are carried out by about fifteen collaborators.
There are 5 main stages in the making of our products.

Leather cutting

The leathers are cut using metal cookie cutters, specially designed for Belledonne. There are as many as there are sizes for a model. To cut the yokes, these cookie cutters are pressed against the skin by a hydraulic press.

Sewing

When all the leather inserts are cut, they are sent to the sewing workshop for assembly of the upper* . In addition to sewing the leather inserts together, a piece of foam is added around the collar of the sneaker for maximum comfort.

* The upper corresponds to the "high" part of the sneaker, all the leather inserts, which will then be assembled to the sole.

Mounting

It is during this stage that our sneakers come to life.
Using a machine, the upper is pressed against a form which draws the lines of the model.

Immediately after, the leather is struck with a mallet, so that the upper perfectly follows the curves of the shape.

The seam of the sole

After assembly, the sole is positioned on the upper.
To guarantee great robustness to our sneakers, our soles are glued and then sewn to the upper.

Finishes

Finally, our sneakers are brushed, waterproofed and laced. A very demanding quality control is carried out before the canning packing.pai
